Balance Ballet Academy

August 2017

Balance Ballet Academy is a brand-new school that will supplement the weekly training given by RLSB, providing Intensive courses, Workshops and Performance opportunities to local children with a passion for dancing. The academy is Directed by Owen Lane, who will bring with him all his personal experience, professional contacts and insights into the current dance world to help drive dance forward in the area. Along-side him will be our very own Gemma Clark who will work as Assistant Director assisting with the general running of the academy as well as teaching at various workshops throughout the year.

This Summer saw the first ever “Balance Ballet Academy - Summer School” open its doors to many of our own students for one week at the start of August. The course centred around the theme of “The Nutcracker” with students learning various extracts from the famous ballet throughout a tough and challenging week. Students also participated in specialised workshops in “Neoclassical” and “Contemporary” dance styles. The course received great feedback from parents and students and all the staff would like to thank everyone who attended for their hard work and dedication.

Over the course of the coming year there will be various dedicated workshops and courses all providing excellent opportunities to the children of our school. The year will culminate for Balance Ballet Academy with our Second Summer School following the theme of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. We look forward to welcoming each and every one of the students who walk through our doors and will strive to provide an enjoyable, enriching and challenging experience for everyone.
